Joe Paterno suspended 3 Penn State players this week for them being arrested for possession of weed.
Again, all though I don’t necessarily believe in crucifying young athletes for smoking weed on occasion, they really should be using discretion and not getting caught if it is a decision they choose to make.
Paterno did what any good coach would do.
College is about learning. Not just in the classroom (a place a lot of college athletes never have to see), but learning how to be responsible, learning how to be a good person and learning how to be accountable for your misdeeds.
Anyone who has been through 4 years of college can tell you that they had their ups and downs. But that is all part of the experience.
Just because you can play football at the D1 level, should not make you invincible to criticism, punishment or reality.
Props to JoePa.
And since no one else lobbied for me to be a fan of another college and I do appreciate this move, maybe I should root for Penn State.
Maybe…
